Whitsunday Fishing Charters
Whitsunday Fishing Charters offers half or full day fishing charters. They provide a friendly fishing trip and provide a great half day out for the family. A great one to take the kids on.
The Fishing
One thing is for sure, fishing around the Whitsunday Islands is beautiful. We fished around the islands of Hook and Whitsunday Island, fishing bommies and edges within casting distance at times of the islands themselves. We were targeting species such as red throat emperor and coral trout, but caught a host of other reef species as well. Spanish Mackerel as well as Tuna often visit these inshore reefs as well, and we managed a nice Spanish Mackerel on a live fussier that we caught.
The Location
The fishing in the Whitsundays can be awesome but no matter what happens with the fishing you see some beautiful county. Reef drop offs even close to the islands is quite spectacular.
Fishing Gear
The fishing gear supplied is are of a reasonable standard. Mostly fishing with threadline reels which are certainly easy for non fishos and kids to use. I would encourage keen fisherman to bring their own reef fishing gear and one medium spinning outfit for if the Mackerel or Tuna show up.
The lodging
This was a day trip so there was no lodging included with this charter.
The Boat
Reel Deel is a 7.5 meter custom fishing boat designed to take customers to the reef. There is a toilet on board. It is reasonably comfortable, although with a bit of slop in the ocean the side flaps are needed.
The Food
Morning tea was supplied but you have to purchase any drinks. There is a place in Airlie Beach called Fish Divine that will cook up your fish for you, you just drop them off and they prepare them in whatever style you like. You must try their curried fish - it is just divine!
The Price Includes
Fishing gear, morning/afternoon tea, and bait is supplied. The only thing you need to bring is good hat, sunscreen, and any alcohol.
