Dusky Morwong are quite a large Morwong but not actively targeted because of its poor table qualities.
How To Identify:
The Dusky Morwong is a more elongated morwong, it is silvery grey to almost bronze or green tinges. It usually has pale orange blotches or spots. Dusky Morwong can grow to almost 14kgs.
How To Catch:
Dusky Morwong are not often targeted by anglers but often caught by rock fisherman or those fishing inshore reefs. Not a really fussy eater, although they prefer prawns. Normal reef fishing tackle would more than suffice.
In Australia Dusky Morwong are found from the bottom part of Southern Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and southern Western Australia. Dusky Morwong dwells in the shallower reefs and inshore sea grass.
