Elephant Fish is quite a strange fish caught in Australian Southern Waters
How To Identify:
The most distinctive feature of the Elephant Fish is the obvious plough shaped long nose. It is a greyish silver colour, although sometimes almost brown. They can grow as large as about 6 kgs
How To Catch:
Elephant Fish are targeted with baits such as squid or fish baits such as pilchard, mullet, tuna or other oiling type fish flesh.
In Australia the Elephant Fish is found from Southern New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia. In New Zealand it is found almost along the entire New Zealand Coast line save the very top of the North Island.
