Description: 
Barracouta is a slim fish from our southern waters with very sharp teeth
How To Identify: 
Thin and Elongated. Steely blue or dark on top fading to a lighter colour underneath. Large mouth and very sharp teeth, be extremely careful when handling. Grows to about 5kg, but normal size is between 1-2 kgs.
How To Catch: 
Readily takes lures, especially feather type lures. Also any types of fish flesh bait, such as pilchards or mullet strips are popular. Not very fussy about what it will eat especially when schooling on baitfish.
Where Found: 
They prefer cooler water around the southern part of Australia. They tend to reside in large schools and once you start catching can dominate the catch. They can range from way offshore right into bays and estuaries
