Like all tuna the yellowfin is a dark blue on the top half of its body and silver/white below. But as the name suggests its fins are bright yellow. Yellowfin have quite big eyes (and easily confused with the Big Eye Tuna) and long fins. Common anywhere from 2-25 kgs and regularly caught to 80kgs, but has been caught near 100 kgs in Australia and around 150 kgs overseas.How To Catch:
Smaller to medium fish usually taken with trolled lures such as minnows, metal jigs, skirted lures, feather jigs and I have seen one take a stick bait intended for a GT. Yellowfin also respond well to 'cubing' which is setting up a berly trail of small cubes and then feeding an unweighted fish bait back into the berly trail. Cubing tends to account for larger fish when they are feeding.Where Found:
